Mother’s Day Prayer {2026}

This year I had the honor of preaching at church for Mother’s Day. This is the first time preaching on Mother’s Day. While my message was not a typical message for Mother’s Day, I did take some time to give a Mother’s Day message & prayer before jumping into my main teaching. I wanted to include the prayer I spoke over/for mothers below as well as a link to the service, in case you want to watch it. 😉

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for moms everywhere. We lift up the moms here & those watching online. Today, we celebrate the loving sacrifice of mothers, biological moms, step-moms, honorary moms & spiritual moms. Lord, bless them with peace, joy, strength & love to continue their selfless work.

Lord, bless the moms who are expecting a baby. Calm their fears, protect & nourish their bodies as they protect and nourish the babies you have blessed them with.

Lord, bless the moms who have babies and toddlers. Give strength & rest to these moms who are in a busy season of diapers, potty training, bottles, sippy cups & and endless mountains of laundry. Provide for them peace, patience & rest, as they desperately need it, Lord.

We ask that You bless the moms who have school-aged children. Provide them with an extra measure of wisdom to answer all of the questions their young ones have. Help them to model maturity as they mold young hearts.

Lord, bless the mothers of tweens & teens. Lord, allow them the grace to let go when needed and the courage to provide firm boundaries when required.

For those mothers of adult children, we ask that You would bless them with the joy of friendship with their child.

And Lord, we ask that you bless single mothers with the strength and grace to fulfill many roles. Provide them with supportive people in their lives who can help and encourage... who can give them a break once in a while so that they may pause to rest & care for themselves.

Bless the grandmothers who have a double blessing of being both a mother and a grandmother. May they spoil their grandchildren with abandon.

Lord, we especially pray for the mothers who have lost a child and for women who are grieving because of infertility. Lord, bless them with Your perfect peace and Your comfort. Fill their hearts and minds with the knowledge of Your love.

Finally Lord, we pray that You would give us eyes to see the women around us who struggle to mother well. Help us to be the hands and feet of Jesus to them.

Thank you for our Amazing Mothers! They gave us life and continue to pour into us and for that, we are forever grateful. In all this we ask and pray, in Jesus' name, Amen!

At some point I will upload the Mother’s Day portion of the message from today. Until that time, here is the link to the livestream “Two Sets Of Thorns” from Amazing Church Colorado.

~Blessings,

Heath
