Today marks the 25 year anniversary of the September 11, 2001, Terrorist Attacks. Regardless of where you stand politically, or what conspiracies you may or not subscribe to, it is safe to say that the world changed on that day. Lives were lost. Families were forever impacted. And the Country was forever changed.
Yet, something incredible happened on September 12. A sense of unity and togetherness rose up that day. The nation united together as one people. On September 12 it didn’t matter how old you were… the color of your skin didn’t matter… your political party affiliation didn’t matter, and it didn’t matter what spiritual beliefs and background you had. The Nation truly stood as the United States of America in a way that I’d not seen in my lifetime.
And in the last 25 years, we’ve forgotten. We’ve forgotten what it means to be united as one. We’ve forgotten the lives lost on that day. We’ve forgotten that together we are stronger. We’ve forgotten that together, we can accomplish anything.
We’ve become a nation divided. We’ve become a nation that forgot what working together can accomplish. And Jesus warned about a divided house in Mark 3:25 (NIV) which reads, “If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand”. And friends, we need to come together if America is to survive. We need to remember Sept 12 & the unity present on that day and the months following. There’s a lot more I could say on this topic; but for today, I will pray for our nation. And today, I will have alarms going off according to the “Times of Importance” graphic below so that I can pause in silence to remember. I pray you do as well.
